ThessISMUN 2008 Secretary General's Welcome Letter
Honorable delegates and Faculty Advisors,

It is my honor and privilege to invite you all to the 7th session of Thessaloniki International Student Model United Nations conference to be held from April 30th 2008 to May 4th at the University of Macedonia, Thessaloniki. Every year over 300 delegates from Greece and abroad attend ThessISMUN to debate some of the most significant problems the international community faces today.

If you have ever dreamed of being a diplomat ThessISMUN is made for you. These 5 days are characterized by intense negotiations, discussing and drafting resolutions. For half a week the world's destiny will be in your hands.

The conference 2008 will reflect the true spirit of the United Nations. For over 6 years ThessISMUN gives participants the possibility to enhance their diplomatic skills, extend their cultural empathy and develop their expertise in research, writing, public speaking and compromising as they represent the interests of the member states of the United Nations on the most pressing affairs in the global community and considering the fact that it stimulates real-life UN conferences and their Rules of Procedure. As a result delegates will be able to get closer insights into the United Nations working mechanisms, traditional negotiations, compromise and solving disputes.

ThessISMUN agenda is entirely proposed and adopted by the chairpersons of different committees, dedicated undergraduates from the various Greek universities who work tirelessly for over 9 months. Their wealth of knowledge, experience, diversity and ranging interests greatly contribute to the overwhelming success of the conference. Building on the ThessISMUN 2007's accomplishments, we are currently working together with the organising committee of ThessISMUN on making the forthcoming conference a memorable experience.

ThessISMUN is also a unique opportunity to explore Thessaloniki and Macedonia. In addition to the committee work, our conference offers a rocking social schedule, a convenient location near all city's hotspots and great weather.

This year's event promises to be a great example of today's young leaders and their capacity for dialogue, debate and the innovative solutions that result.
