ThessISMUN 2008 Policy Directors' Team
The Policy Directors' Team (P.D.T.) is a part of the ThessISMUN 2008 Organising Committee, constituted by particular members of the Board.
The Head of the Policy Directors' Team, is the Deputy Secretary General and its members shall be the following:
- the Vice-Chairs of the 1st, the 2nd and the 3rd Committee of the General Assembly of the United Nations
- and the Vice-Chair of ECOSOC of the United Nations
- the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Council of the N.A.T.O.
- the Vice-President of the European Parliament of the European Union.
The role of the Team will be to monitor the delegates of each respective committee, with regards to the Agenda, as well as to issues pertaining to the international relations among the states that they represent.
Each member of the team will be responsible for the delegates in the committee / council that he/she holds his/her post. If he/she realizes that a delegate:
- follows on purpose unethical practices, or
- he/she speaks for issues out of the Agenda, disregarding the directives given by the Board of the Committee or Council or
- he/she doesn't apply the diplomatic courtesy, or
- his/ her activities and statements are not in compliance with the main policy lines of the state he/she is representing,
then the member of the P.D.T. will call him/her in a private meeting, where he/she has the right and the obligation to call him/her back to order.
Also, in case that a delegate feels uncertain about the main policy lines of the country he/she is representing, towards a specific issue that is on the table at that time, or towards a sudden, non fixed issue that might emerge through the debate, he/she can contact the member of the P.D.T. in his/her committee/council immediately, in order to ask for his/her opinion, help, or advice.
Each respective member of the P.D.T., shall assist the delegate providing him/her with the available information on the issue under consideration.
If serious problems emerge from the violation of the diplomatic courtesy, the ThessISMUN 2008 Secretariat reserves the right to intervene in any possible way in order to resolve the issue.
