United Nations Committees

1st Committee of the GA

• Topic Area A: Conclusion of effective international arrangements to assure non-nuclear weapon states against the use of threat of use of nuclear weapons.
• Topic Area B: Assistance to states for curbing the illicit traffic in small arms and light weapons and collecting them.

2nd Committee of the GA

• Topic Area A: Debt sustainability: proposals of an operational policy mix
• Topic Area B: Sustainable development: promotion of new and renewable sources of energy: examining the implementation of the World Solar Programme 1996-2005.

3rd Committee of the GA

• Topic Area A: Elimination of children's abuse, ill-treatment and racial discrimination:
  1. Promotion and protection of the rights of children
  2. Revision and observation over children's rights legislation
  3. Rehabilitation of the abused and violated children.
• Topic Area B: The compatibility of Human Rights protection and State interests: balancing national security and privacy in the case of telecommunications.

EcoSoC

• Topic Area A: Transnational organized crime and human trafficking: Evaluation of the existing structures and proposals for further action.
• Topic Area B: Economic and social needs of countries emerging from conflict and post-conflict countries. Special cases of Iraq, Lebanon and the African Regions.

Security Council

• Topic Area A: Dialogue upon the Darfur Conflict
• Topic Area B: To be announced

European Union

Council of Ministers

• Topic Area A: Dialogue upon specific proposals for the improvement of the Constitutional Treaty, in order to strengthen the current structures of the Union and thus to ameliorate its response to the future challenges.
• Topic Area B: 2007 will be the "European year of Equal Opportunities" for all European citizens, and therefore the need for renewal of the Union's social policies will call for specific actions in the fields of:
  • Education,
  • Training Systems
  • Employment

NATO

North Atlantic Council

• Topic Area A: The NATO enlargement in the future: Evaluation of the process and rising institutional issues. Prospects of the NATO-Mediterranean dialogue.
• Topic Area B: The role of NATO in regional conflicts: Review of NATO missions and operations. Examining the progress in Afghanistan and the Balkans and the renewal of the operational mandates.
